-Article content

It is one of the main challenges in conservation and resource management of sustainable mountains and farmlands to understand the sediment and water dynamics in mountain areas. This research is compiled with three different articles summarizing the goals and challenges of previous studies on the impacts of the scale space in sediment and water outflow in mountain areas. Studying the major findings to date from a broad perspective, this research recognizes the current goals and future challenges on the observation of sediment and water outflow, the cases of intense observed area, and the cases of numeric analysis model. Hereafter, this study will be useful not only for the researchers working in such scale issues, but also for the researchers in other related fields to take a broad approach to the necessary knowledge.

-Award criteria

The award regulations of the Japan Society of Hydrology and Water allow this award to be awarded to the members of the Organization who are authors of the articles published in its journals or the major international journals that significantly contribute to the development of the hydrology and water resources.
