Akinori Yamanaka, Professor of GIR, won “JSTP Medal for Scientific/Technological Achievement” of the Japan Society for Technology of Plasticity on June 3rd, 2021.

-Name of the award

“JSTP Medal for Scientific/Technological Achievement”

-Outline of the award

Theme of the award-winning paper: Prediction of microstructure formation and plastic deformation of metals adopting data science

Award criteria: This award is given to individuals who have conducted academic research which is deemed to be an outstanding achievement in the field of plasticity. In the award-winning research, Akinori Yamanaka and his team developed a numerical simulation system by adopting computational materials science and date science. This system can predict formation of microstructure inside of metals and the deformation of materials caused by this microstructure formation.
