Formation of International Research Unit for Prediction Agriculture Based on Spatio-Temporal Multidimensional Data

【FOOD】 Saito Unit

  • Overview

Mechanistic physical models are not suitable for analysis based on incomplete information and often require a great deal of labor to obtain the necessary parameters. Data-driven models such as machine learning are then used. The objective of this research unit is to establish an international prediction agriculture research center for the prediction of various events related to agriculture using mathematical models. The unit will further promote research on quantitative prediction of material dynamics, ecosystem structure and dynamics, and biological effects in agricultural land and surrounding environment using mathematical models, and will promote (1) analysis by coupling existing models, (2) analysis by integrating mechanistic physical models and data-driven models, and (3) collection and development of training data for data-driven models.
