| Title | "Global hydrological change: risks for societal and environmental futures"
Professor Gosling will discuss the latest evidence of recent large-scale hydrological change across the world from state-of-the-art Global Hydrological Models (GHMs), drawing upon model simulations from the Intersectoral Impact Model Intercomparison project (ISIMIP), which he has helped to coordinate for over a decade. The talk will explore how GHMs work, how well they perform, and what they tell us about the fragility of water resources to human-driven stressors at the global-scale. Professor Gosling will also discuss the latest efforts to integrate results from GHMs in multi-sectoral risk assessments to better understand the role of hydrology in shaping risks for societal and environmental futures, including human health, water quality, biodiversity and freshwater availability. |
