| Title | "AI for Water Challenges: Ocean Oxygen and Flood Mapping"
Water challenges often include data challenges: key signals are sparse, noisy, and expensive to label at scale. Professor Fang Zhao will introduce three studies to show how AI helps bridge this gap. Oxyformer, a Transformer based fusion model, combines in situ oxygen with reanalysis and ocean color to reconstruct oxygen patterns and trends. Large scale, first hand labeling across the middle–lower Yangtze enables 10 m inundation dynamics for the 2020 mega flood. Foundation model application highlights a promising low label direction for water mapping. |
