Title "Chemo-hydrodynamic self-organized patterns"

<Abstract>
Out of equilibrium, patterns can appear in reactive systems thanks to the interplay between reaction and diffusion processes.
In parallel, hydrodynamic instabilities can also trigger self-organized convective patterns due to gradients in concentration or temperature.
In this talk, I will review various patterns and instabilities that can be obtained from the coupling between the self-organizing power of reaction-diffusion and hydrodynamic processes. Starting from simple bimolecular reactions, I will first show how radial injection of one reactant into another one at a constant flow rate can be used to control the amount and spatial distribution of the product generated.
In the case of autocatalytic reactions, radial injection can produce stationary fronts that can deform into shining sun-ray patterns if the involved chemical species diffuse at different rates. Finally, I will show that for oscillating reactions, their interplay with a saddle flow or with buoyancy-driven convection can trigger quite complex dynamics, including localized wave packets.
