| Title | "From Head to Toe : Biological significances of lipid head group and acylchain combinations"
Changes in lipid profiles are seen in multiple diseases, but a basic understanding about how lipid structures affect biological functions remains to be established. It is known that lipids have distinct acyl-chain profiles depending on their head groups, and therefore we are investigating how this combination of head group and acyl-chains is acquired, and for which purpose. For this, we obtained lipidomics profiles from dozens of mutant cells with altered lipid metabolism, and found complex rules that delineate lipid class-specific acyl-chain regulation. In my presentation, I will present our recent results about the co-regulation of acyl-chains between sphingolipids and phosphatidylserine, as well as the generation of acyl-chain biases in phosphatidylinositol. |
